Greetings in Christ!

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!  Let us rejoice in bright sunshine as the day begins, and let us be glad for shelter later in the day as severe weather is in the forecast for the evening.  Many of us would be very happy if the rules of Camelot applied to the weather in Northern Michigan; the rain can never fall ’til after sundown, July and August cannot be too hot, but alas, we don’t get to set those rules.  Yet without the rain, the sunshine wouldn’t be so delightful; without the rain, the flowers wouldn’t bloom and the crops wouldn’t grow, so let’s accept the fact that into every life a bit of rain must fall, and make the most of it!

And while we’re coming to grips with the inevitable rainy days that might interrupt our plans, let’s not lose sight of the truth that the rainy days always come to an end, whether those rainy days are because of precipitation or because of hard things that befall us.  Our loving God wishes only good things for us, so we can trust that no matter what we’re facing, we’ll get through it because we turn our faces to Heaven for guidance and support.  It’s been said that “if God brought you to it, he’ll see you through it,” and also that God won’t give us anything we can’t handle – but God is far more confident in our abilities than we sometimes are; regardless of what we believe our limitations to be, the reality is that God is always present to us, his power is always available to us, and his love is never taken from us.  The Letter to the Philippians says it well; we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, so do not fear or fret, you’ll get through whatever it is that lies before you.

Blessings,

God bless you!
