Greetings in Christ!
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! Let us rejoice that Christ is Risen! He is Risen, Indeed! And let us be glad that we are still celebrating the Season of Easter! On this fine day, let us also rejoice and be glad that it appears as if spring has finally taken a firm hold on our weather! Trees are budding out, and flowers are brightening our gardens. How can we not rejoice at the marvels of God’s Creation?
And how can we not rejoice at the marvels of a life in Christ? Through Jesus’ selfless act, we have been made clean for all time; our sins are forgiven, and we have been shown a way of living that can (and in many ways, already has) changed the world for the better. At the same time, we have been shown a way of living that can be very hard to sustain, because it runs counter to so much of what our current culture thinks is important. Temptations are everywhere, and the advertisers and marketers are very, very good at making us believe that we’re missing out on something very, very good if we resist their messages. And so what is a Christian to do in an increasingly secular world? Pray. Study. Attend worship services when you can. Shut off the TV (or at least hit the “Mute” button when commercials come on). Delete all those emails offering miracle cures and instant riches that flood your inbox without opening them, just like we used to dump the “junk mail” into the recycle bin without a second thought. Did we mention praying? The rewards of being faithful to what we believe are limitless; the price of giving in to temptation can be devastating. Rejoice and be glad, children of God! For God is good, all the time; and all the time, God is good!
There won’t be a weekly email next week, as we’ll be away on vacation; if a pastoral emergency arises, please contact one of the churches directly for guidance.
With our love in Christ,
Karen and Greg
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
Spring has sprung around the Chapel!

Wishing you joy and peace in your day! Remember, God’s got this.
